World AIDS Day Presentation

With World AIDS Day taking place on 1 December, the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre (VAC/GMHC) needs your help. Unfortunately, the annual diagnosis of HIV in Victoria continues to increase, and there are now more people here than ever before living with the virus, which can be frightening, isolating and debilitating. It is vital that the GLBTIQ community unites to increase awareness around HIV in Victoria, with the aim of preventing future incidences of infection and increase support for people living with HIV both globally and within our own locality.

Sian Syddall and Shane Kelly from the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre will be presenting about the charity’s approach to the World AIDS Day campaign this year, and how you can get involved.

About our speakers –

Sian Syddall, Fundraising and Communications Coordinator of the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre will be presenting at the Business Breakfast in October.

Sian Syddall joined the Council in July 2010 after working for a number of large national health charities both in the UK and Australia.

Sian has worked in fundraising and communications over the past seven years, and is qualified in business management and marketing. Originally from the UK, she has lived in Melbourne since February 2010, having relocated for work purposes.

This is the first time Sian has worked for an HIV charity, and she is proud and excited to work for an organisation like VAC/GMHC, and be making a difference to the lives of people living with HIV locally.

Shane Kelly is responsible for the Volunteer program at VAC/GMHC with over 250 volunteers helping with the day to day work of our organisation.

Shanes background is in Adult Education and Training and is passionate about working with people. Having also previously worked in Sales and Marketing for large Corporate Companies, working for a relatively small not for profit organisation has been a challenging and rewarding experience seeing first hand how ones work so deeply enriches the life of others.
